Constant Supports
Constant-load elastic supports are devices used to support the weight of pipes that, due to thermal variations and other factors, exhibit vertical displacements at the support points. Ca.STIm. 2000 constant-load supports essentially consist of a helical spring, a bellcrank connected to the spring by a jointed tie rod, and a frame. The kinematic mechanism is designed such that, for a certain rotation of the bellcrank around the main pin, the load C counteracting the action of the spring remains constant, given by:
C =k*(R*h*b)/c
in which:
C = load on the pipe
k = constant
R = spring stiffness
h = defined geometric value
b = variable geometric value
